An annotated bibliography is an organized list of sources.
It differs from a standard bibliography in that each reference is followed by an annotation.
Annotations may contain either short phrases or complete sentences and consist of one or multiple paragraphs and should give enough information to help the reader get a sense of the resource that is being examined.
Although annotated bibliographies can look different based on their discipline, they usually contain these three key elements:
- A citation correctly formatted
- A summary of the article and its content
- An evaluation of the article as a source
